Ukraine and Lithuania signed a series of bilateral cooperation documentsFollowing the tenth meeting of the Council of Presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania, a number of documents on bilateral cooperation were signed in the presence of Petro Poroshenko and Dalia Grybauskaitė.

The parties signed the Protocol of the tenth meeting of the Council of Presidents of Ukraine and the Republic of Lithuania, which reflects the main agreements reached. The document confirms a common position on the continuation of strategic development of interstate relations between the countries. The Protocol condemns the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and confirms the support for the unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of further bilateral efforts aimed at supporting Ukraine and counteracting Russian aggression.

The Protocol welcomes the full entry into force of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU on September 1, 2017, the positive results of the temporary implementation of the free trade area, the entry into force of the visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens, the results of the fifth Eastern Partnership Summit, as well as confirms the importance of bilateral cooperation in the field of defense and security, energy, transport and logistics, education, science and culture, as well as youth policy and youth exchange.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania on strategic cooperation in the field of energy.

The purpose of the document is to create an effective platform for cooperation in oil and gas, electricity and nuclear spheres, taking into account energy efficiency and energy saving challenges. Cooperation will be carried out through the exchange of experience in the development of gas markets of Ukraine and Lithuania, the decommissioning and dismantling of nuclear power plants; in the sphere of renewable energy sources, including clean energy projects using solar energy, biomass. The parties will also cooperate in energy efficiency and energy saving technologies; in the issues of the creation of the electricity market and the system of transmission of synchronous connection with continental Europe, etc. through institutional cooperation within the functioning of the relevant Working Group.

In addition, the Agreement on Cooperation between the State Migration Service of Ukraine and the Migration Department of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania was signed. The purpose of the document is to create an effective platform for cooperation in the field of migration and asylum.
