My trip to Vinnitsa
Vinnitsa is a picturesque city of Ukraine, which is located on the magical coast of the Southern Bug for over 600 years.
This Podolsk region is famous for its clean rivers, mighty forests and fabulous meadows. There are two main versions of the name of the city. Some historians claim that this name comes from the word \ "wine \", which is translated from the Old Slavic as \ "gift \". Others - from the word \ "distillery \" which means a place where beer is prepared.
One of the elements that characterize this city is the crossroads. Many roads, cultures, religions crossed in Vinnitsa. Vinnitsians want their city to remain friendly and tolerant, and they hospitably meet travelers. Historical truth convinces that the cities which are at the crossroads of trade routes, are among the most developed.
Vinnitsa walls are one of the oldest architectural monuments of national significance.
Even in the 17th century Vinnitsa was a safe haven for Catholic supporters. Therefore, they decided to build a Jesuit monastery with a dormitory for monks and with a collegium. In order to protect the construction of the attacks of the Tatars and other invaders, around them it was decided to build special fortifications, which later were called "walls". It should be noted that the Jesuit monastery played an important role not only as a key defense complex, but also for the cultural and educational center. Today on the defensive fortresses actually nothing left. Instead, the former monastery turned into a Local History Museum, where you can view the fascinating history of the city. Ancient architectural ensemble can enjoy, walking at the main Vinnitsa Street - Soborna.
The largest temple of the city is the former church of the Dominican monastery. Dominican asses in Vinnitsa, as well as their Jesuit neighbors, located on the territory of one of the Moore's fortification complex, for a long time were wooden. At the moment, the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral holds divine services, classes on catechism and other spiritual teachings. In the monastery there is a theater studio "Lamdalka" and a spiritual choir.
Behind the walls of the monastery of the Dominicans, which for a long time was wooden, an ensemble of the Jesuit monastery was located. Subsequently, the buildings of the Jesuit and Dominican monasteries were merged into a single fortification system with a defensive wall and towers called Moore.
At the moment, there are several institutions in the territory of the former Jesuit settlement - the State Archives of Vinnitsa region, regional lore studies, art museum and technical lyceum.
On the opposite side of the street. Cathedral is located buildings of capuchins. The monastery, built in 1760, consists of a church, cellars and walls. Also, one of the symbols of the city is the Vinnitsa trams of Swiss descent.
A river Southern Bug creates a natural landscape of the city. On the Island of Kemp once stood an old Vinnitsa castle. In addition, the Vinnitsa region "Southern Bug" has the following features, which allows organizing extreme alloys on rafts and kayaks. In order to organize active rest here come tourists from different corners of Ukraine and other countries.
The place, from which Vinnitsa began, is now - no remarkable region on the opposite left bank of the Southern Bug, which built mostly by private structures and is called Old City.
In this cozy corner of the old Vinnitsa there is a wooden church of Mikolsk - the oldest and only one church in the city of Ukrainian architecture. The church represents the typical Ukrainian church of the Podolsk architectural school of the Baroque era.
The architectural symbol of the city is a water tower. It is located on the European Square in the heart of the city.
The main street of the city, which is the face of the city, is the Soborna Street. The street is built up with luxurious houses of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The most famous building of the Soborna Street is the Savoy Hotel. And also the Livshits Synagogue, which has been in Vinnitsa for a long time, and it is the one synagogue in the city which still operates.
In the corner at the central part of the city you can find many interesting examples of modernism and eclecticism. The main modern masterpiece of Vinnitsa is the mansion of Captain Chetkov on Pushkin's street. The building has a beautiful view, balconies without exits and an exotic device – a slide to descend from the second floor to the first, unprecedented for early townspeople. Inside the room there were many sculptures. The captain did not live long in the city, and when the revolution began, he left, because he did not support it. Now in the building of the Chetkov house there is a department of architecture and urban planning of Vinnitsa.
The most interesting walk in Vinnitsa in the evening. The main attractions of Vinnitsa are highlighted, and the most beautiful place for me is the Roshen embankment. Opposite the embankment on the Southern Bug River, the largest light-and-musical fountain in Europe is located. The proper ending of the day in Vinnitsa is the enjoyment of the Roshen musical fountain.
The city of Vinnitsa is worth to visit, because there are a lot of beautiful architectural monuments, and picturesque landscapes. The city of Vinnitsa has always been a green city - it has many squares, parks, greenery. This is a city that you want to return to.
