The best photos of Ukrainian cultural monuments 2017. Wiki Loves Monuments

The international project "Wiki Loves Monuments" is aimed to create a complete illustrated information base on the cultural heritage of the world; the collected photos will be used on Wikipedia. In 2017 the competition was held in more than 50 countries.

More than 37 thousand photos were uploaded in the Ukrainian part of the contest - the biggest number of all participating countries. Photos of more than 16 thousand objects of cultural heritage have been submitted, more than 2500 cultural monuments were photographed for the first time. The competition was attended by 410 authors, six of them are among the 15 most active photo uploaders in the world.

The authors of the best photographs and authors who photographed the largest number of objects, in general and particularly, were awarded within the framework of the project. The best photos (by places) are shown below.

For reference:

"Wiki Loves Monuments" is an international photo competition for cultural heritage sites whose purpose is to gather pictures to illustrate articles on Wikipedia, Wikitravel and other Wikipedia projects. During this time, almost 2 million images were collected. In Ukraine this year it was held for the sixth time.

Wikimedia Ukraine is a regional office of the Wikimedia Foundation in Ukraine and is promoting the projects of the fund, the most famous of which is Wikipedia, bringing Wikipedia new knowledge and users and the development of community welfare in Ukraine.

All photos can be freely used for any purpose, provided the author and the license are specified (as in the signatures to the images in this post).
