National University of Ukraine on Physical Education and Sport
The National University of Ukraine on Physical Education and Sport is a leading educational institution in the field of physical education and sport of Ukraine, which harmoniously combines training of qualified specialists for physical culture, and sports, retraining and advanced training of specialists in various fields, fundamental and applied research and multifaceted international cooperation.
The NUUPES prepares specialists in the fields of knowledge: "Physical education, sport and health", "Sphere of service" and "Arts". Preparation of bachelors is carried out in the following fields: "Sport", "Physical Education", "Human Health", "Tourism", "Choreography". Masters are prepared in the following specialties: "Sport", "Fitness and Recreation", "Physical Therapy and Ergotherapy", "Physical Rehabilitation", "Physical Education".
The University has qualified research and teaching staff, able to successfully meet the challenges facing it as a national institution of education. Now the educational and research work at the University is carried out by 360 members of the scientific and teaching staff, including 38 doctors of science and 164 PhD holders.
At the NUUPES there are two specialized scientific boards for defense of dissertations and awarding degrees of Doctor of Physical Education and Sport and Ph. D. of Physical Education and Sport in three specialties: "Olympic and Professional Sport", "Physical Culture, Physical Education of Different Population Groups", "Physical Rehabilitation".
The structure of the NUUPES includes the Scientific Research Institute, a scientific library, Health Centre "Olympic Style", the Center of Advanced Training and Post-Diploma Education, the Sports Traumatology Centre, the "Olympic Literature Publishing House".
The NUUPES is a founder of the scientific-theoretical periodicals "Science in the "Olympic Sports", "Theory and Methods of Physical Education and Sport", "Sports Medicine", which are registered in the scientific metric bases: Google Scholar, Ulrich’s Periodicals Directory, Copernicus.
Among those who obtained their education at the University, there are a lot of famous athletes, coaches, outstanding scientists, managers and organizers in the field of physical culture and sport. The University has trained numerous winners and prize holders of the World Student Games, champions of the world, Europe and Ukraine. 111 best students of the NUUPES have become the winners of the Olympic Games.
The NUPESU is a member of the International Association of Universities of Physical Culture and Sports. The University maintains close partnership cooperation with the International Olympic Committee, the International Olympic Academy, the World Council of Sports Science and Physical Education.
The NUUPES is also a member of the European network of specialized higher education institutions, as well as some other structures. As part of international cooperation, a fruitful collaboration with international institutions and representatives of foreign states, universities, research centers, organizations of physical culture and sports from Austria, Belarus, Canada, China, Colombia, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Japan, France, Iraq, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Turkmenistan, Venezuela and other countries has been established.
Training of international students at the National University of Ukraine on Physical Education and Sport has been carried out since 1955. Since then diplomas and scientific degrees have been obtained by almost about 2,000 foreigners from 60 countries worldwide.
The campus of the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine is located in Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv and has four buildings. The number of residents in 2016-2017 is 970 people, among them Ukrainian, foreign and postgraduate students of the NUUPES. Each hostel is equipped with educational facilities and the Internet. In Hostel No. 5 there is a gym with fitness equipment. Hostels No. 1 and No. 5 have free luggage storage where students have the opportunity to store things. There are a tennis club and laundry facilities in Hostel No. 1. On the territory of Hostel No. 3 there is a canteen which serves delicious and inexpensive dishes. During the academic year, the guests of the University are accommodated in the rooms for temporary accommodation, among them participants of seminars, conferences, pupils’ and students’ Olympiads, sports events.
