The Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy (Bohdan Khmelnytsky ChNU)
State higher educational institution of the 3rd and the 4th levels of accreditation. Specialists with higher education are trained in 58 civil and 2 military areas.
The structural units of the University are 10 educational-research institutes and faculties, 50 departments, the Institute of Pre-University Training and Post-Graduate Education, Educational-Scientific Centre “International Education Institute”, the scientific library.
Fundamental research is carried out under the supervision of celebrated Doctors of Sciences, Professors in the 17 scientific schools they created. PhD and Doctor of Sciences postgraduate studies are offered in 14 areas. There are seven specialized academic councils with the right to accept PhD and Doctor of Sciences theses in 12 areas.
The University implements international exchange and internship programs, the students have an opportunity to study according to double diploma program.
The University constantly improves its ratings: in 2017 it was rated the 24th among the 128 in the Ukraine higher educational institutions based on Scopus parameters; in the rating of world Universities based on their footprint on the Internet network Webometrics Ranking of World Universities it was ranked the 30th in Ukraine; in the consolidated rating of Ukraine higher educational institutions it has the 51st place; based on the employers’ data it is on the Ukraine top 50 (2017); for the first time it entered the QS World University Rankings 2016/2017, which covers the Universities of Europe and Central Asia.
Students apply their talents in singing groups, on the Club of the Smart and the Merry teams, in the theatrical studio, the Cherkashchanka folk dance group, carry out charity and volunteering work.
The University has 5 current dormitories with 2000 beds. The campus has a football(soccer) field, basketball and volleyball courts. Medical help centre provides therapeutical and dentistry services.
Students have at their disposal the Mykhailo Maksymovych Scientific Library, which includes 4 lending libraries, 5 specialized reading halls, an electronic reading hall.
The students get catering at 4 cafes and refreshment rooms in the academic buildings.
There are conditions for doing sports. They include 2 large gyms, 4 work-out rooms (2 of them in dormitories), sports grounds, a boxing gym, a wrestling gym and 2 gyms for oriental martial arts.
Educational-Scientific Complex “Sokyrna” is located on a picturesque location on the Dnipro river bank with 9 buildings, a beach, several sports grounds, a boat station, a canteen with 200 seats.
